About Me

Bold and patient

For as long as I can remember, I have studied people. I have been innately curious about emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. And I bring that to the therapy room. Truly, I love this work, and the privilege to help people examine their inner and outer worlds.

I was trained in Marriage and Family Therapy and Systems Theory, in a program in Mexico City, that emphasized the systems in which we exist, their influence on us, and the different perspectives we all have within those systems. I have furthered my education in Emotion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Intimacy and have worked extensively in addiction treatment. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and am working towards certification.

My personal life - along with my professional history - has allowed me to experience a variety of people, places, and cultures. I have witnessed and lived my own adversity, transformation, and recovery. As a result of my experiences, I believe in celebrating imperfections and highlighting resiliency. Inclusion, equity, diversity, and empowerment are central tenets of my therapy work.

My own trials and tribulations have allowed me to hone my craft by working on myself. The art of therapy is an honor to practice, and is something I continue to cultivate.

I see my role as creating an environment that feels open and safe: to guide my clients to see patterns, be honest with themselves, and address attachment styles. I help my clients reconnect with their innate worth, strengths, and resilience.

Bold and Patient:

is how my therapeutic style has been described.

What is psychotherapy?

The process of talk therapy can feel confusing, awkward, and unfamiliar when first beginning. The experience can be diverse and is very personal to the individual and clinician. I often call it a place for exploration. A private place to talk through emotional issues or relationship conflict. My role is to guide you through this unknown territory, supporting you to your destination.

Often, the experience takes on organic flow, moving on its own, making progress and uncovering insights without always knowing where it is leading. At times, therapy can be uncomfortable, and discussion can lead to painful emotions. However, all is in service to healing and progress. My role is to create space for openness and honesty - to help you explore. I’m here to be a guide, to support your healing, forgiveness, clarity, or determined goals.

With a wealth of research, theories, and approaches out there it can be hard to choose an approach or a practitioner who is right for you. I encourage you to be diligent about what you are seeking. Again, therapy is a relationship, and you want to find what feels right for you.

My Philosophy of Change

Tactics that people typically use as a “solution” to avoid and escape pain often create suffering, and can actually reinforce the problem. I believe our inability to face ourselves, our emotions, our relationships and hardships is at the root of most of our issues. My role is to help you through this exploration. I believe in the power of perception, and its ability to create lasting change.

An underlying belief in my work is the importance of rejuvenation and self-acceptance. Together, we can define what that looks like and means for you. I focus on empowerment, taking responsibility for your emotions, valuing honesty, and acceptance of yourself and others.

Change the way you look at things and things you look at change.
